Get in the game in Colorado
Ever wondered what it would take to work in the videogame business? Ever wonder why you’d want to?
This week the Colorado Game Developers Association, in conjunction with the International Game Developers Association, are sponsoring two local meetings that feature big names talking about big issues.
Jason Della Rocca heads up the IGDA and knows everyone in the business. He’ll be in Denver to talk up the industryboth pro and conas well as offer advice to aspiring game developers and inspiration to current developers.
Dan “Shoe” Hsu is the Editor-In-Chief of Electronic Gaming Monthly, one of the largest and most notable videogame mags on the planet.
Jason and Shoe will head up a meeting this Thursday nite featuring the theme, “The Future of the Game Development Industry.â€?
It’s free and sure to be an interesting and entertaining evening.
Event details: Thursday, September 29th, 7:00 p.m. at the DeVry University, 1870 West 122nd Ave, Westminster. Here are directions and a map.
Saturday morning, Jason will lead a discussion on “How to Break Into the Industry.” Co-sponsored by Westwood College, this is a rare opportunity for students to find out what they need to be doing now if they want to join the back-breaking game labor force in the future.
Event details: Saturday, October 1, 10:00 a.m. at the Westin Hotel, 10600 Westminster Blvd., Westminster. Directions. The event will be in the Lake View Pavilion, which is right in front of the hotel by the water. There is plenty of parking behind the hotel.
I know, I know. And you thought nothing interesting ever happens in the local videogame scene. I guess you were wrong.
Check out this site to keep in the loop so you don’t make that mistake again next time.
